de_Lourmarin

Bomb defusal map for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Created as a promotional work in 2015 for my last year at high school Ljud & Bildskolan, where I studied Game Design. Awarded a diploma for Best Level design at school.

Being a long-time fan of creating maps for games, starting all the way back in 2009 Hammer Editor for Counter-Strike: Source, later going over to creating public maps for Garry’s Mod and other Source Engine based games, I always wanted to make something big where I put all my energy into. When studying Game Design at Ljud & Bildskolan high school, my teacher noticed my skills for map creation, and I was given the possibility to create a map for my promotional work for my last semester.

de_Lourmarin is a bomb-defusal map inspired by the little town of Lourmarin in southern France. The map was created by gathering images from Google streetview, and later taking them and using pen and paper sketches to build up a play area that would fit for real CS gameplay, such as creating a main path, with two outside flanks, similar to other CS:GO maps. The map was created using inhouse assets from the Source Engine, that fit well with the rural, old village- look that Lourmarin had.

After finishing, the map was published on the Steam workshop and received over 2000 subscriptions and 4 star rating.
